The great grape pruning at Jenny's House 2022

Zac enjoying the luscious shade and evaporative cooling from the grapevines on 23 January 2022..

Earlier today - do not perch your ladder on the very edge like I did!

The great northern grape vine pruning of 2022 is finished!

I’ve still got the western courtyard and eastern laundry deck to do tomorrow. Even though the vines were nearly bare of leaves, there is noticeably more light inside (and now I can see how badly the windows need cleaning… not to mention the clear multiwall cover over the first section of the deck!).

The last ‘before and after’ shots of the full front of the house, compare Easter (3 weeks ago) with now. We’re definitely at the Winter end of Autumn!

Time to start soaking up that northern sunshine as it drops lower and lower in the sky and floods the house with free light and heat. The grapes can have a little hibernating rest and get ready to produce another beautiful, lush, dense, cool cover for the deck in Spring and Summer… followed by yet another spectacular show of colour in Autumn.
