We are thrilled to announce that our Principal Architect, Sarah Lebner, won the ACT Emerging Architect Prize of 2020!

You can see Sarah being announced as winner and delivering a terrific speech by live-cross from her parent’s farm in the upper Murray (and all of the Light House gang saying hello and hooray via video-conference at the end) from the 6:20 min to 9:50 min mark here.

“The Emerging Architect Prize recognises an individual emerging architect or emerging architectural collaboration’s contribution to architectural practice, education, design excellence and community involvement, which advances the profession’s role within the public arena. Entrants must be within 15 years of graduation and have first been registered as an Architect anywhere, not more than 10 years ago to be nominated by for this prize.”

Shannon Battisson, president of the ACT Institute of Architects, a former ACT Emerging Architect Award Winner and Chair of this year’s Emerging Architect Jury, commended Sarah on her ability to balance architectural practice, community advocacy and social awareness.

“Sarah is an example of what dedication and hard work can achieve and is an inspiration to those around her.”

Sarah completed her masters degree in 2012, joined the Light House team in 2013, and achieved registration in 2014. She leads a busy and diverse design team of ten and has personally designed tens of beautiful, smaller, smarter, sustainable homes (new and reno/extension) across Canberra. She is one of the youngest architects to have ‘emerged’! You can read more about Sarah and all of the other incredible things she does for the broader architecture industry here.
